Have you ever had that feeling
That nagging feeling that won’t go away
When you watch the girl you want
Fall under another guy’s sway?

Have you ever had that pain,
That frightful nostalgia—always there,
Of memories once treasured
Now grandeur that is rare?

When you see that girl you love
Her spirit and aura so kind
Who would have thought she would leave
Your hopes and dreams behind?

Didn’t she promise to love you
For eternity she would spend,
In Heaven and Hell forever
With you as her friend?

Oh, look at her over there!
Her eyes a reflection of You
Ah, she looks back:
Eh, you miss her, too?

She can see it in your eyes
The hurt you try to conceal
The agony that mars your face
Is easy for her to feel.

But, don’t you remember, Son,
Of the actions of that day
Why, it is not her fault she left you
For you deserve to pay.

Think a little back my boy
To when Hades controlled your mind
Remember that moment of stupidity
That had made your eyes so blind!

You let weakness seize your bones
While fear clenched your heart
Just because she was talking to another man
You couldn’t stand such tart!

Oh, you thought she was defiant
A mouse with too much roar
You wanted to be the lion
For that you were very sore.

Oh, so you screamed at her insanely
Madly you told her she did not belong
Indeed, like Anne Hutchinson was she
Both women being quite wronged.

And now, she is where she is accepted
By a man named Ron Ibend
Like Hutchinson herself
And that little state of Rhode Island.

Now you regret what you did:
You wish you could change back time
But you will never get her back
and that is the end to this rhyme.
