Night Song

Crickets chirp,

 Frogs croak,

    Cattle low in the fields.

Fish splash in the lake,

    Boats start up,

Sound of distant

train whistles.

Mothers call their children in.

    Bug zappers crackle and

mosquitoes buzz.

    Night song.

"A word is dead
When it is said
Some say.
I say
It just begins to live
That day."
--Emily Dickenson

That's so evocative. You really create sound effects in this poem!
