Drowning | Teen Ink

Icy water fills my nose,

My mouth, my lungs.

My body is numb, but

My lungs are bursting.

Water replaces air.

Time and consciousness

Start slipping away unnoticed.

I feel nothing but

Pure acceptance.

My friends,

A usually rowdy group of teenage boys,

Panic and scream far above the ice.

I’m Gone.

"I'd rather be a forest than a street.
If I only could, I surely would.
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet."

I notice lots of people on ti post poems about drowning, either literal or metaphorical.
