"We're all stories in the end."

Being alone with a book in hand,
All alone with not a care in the world,
It's a freedom I can rarely enjoy.
I was made to be alone, I think,
And it doesn't bother me until I see
My past friends laughing with each other like we used to.
So now I wonder, is my book my downfall?

The author's comments:
I wrote this during lunch when I was thinking about why I almost always sit alone when I eat. This is me revealing the pain I feel when nobody's lookoing.

I was never afraid of failure for I would sooner fail than not be among the greatest.

i think this was a good poem and i always support poets who are willing to throw their feelings out there.

If there was no change, there would be no butterflies.

What a curious question at the end. As long as you are happy with yourself, I guess the book can be whatever you make it. And, the poem is beautiful--thank you.

Oh, and plus I would appreciate it if you could check out some of my own poems, like "Ode to Equality", and leave some feedback. Thanks!

I can relate. A lot of what I like to do is solitary. I feel so shy and awkward around others.

"Love means holding on to someone just as hard as you can because if you don't, one blink and they might disappear... forever." -Ellen Hopkins, Impulse

this was written nicely . I know the feeling. Maybe not the book part as much but seeing my past friends laughing like we use to, def relates to me. All my friends turned on me and i read to get away from my messed up depressing life. its the only way to escape

I'd rather be sorry for something that I did than for something I didn't do.

Yes, this is me, sometimes. Although I am not very alone, sometimes I feel quite isolated from everybody else. I really like this poem and the feeling I get from it. Good job!

Could you please read my poem, "Deceit" and tell me whether it's any good?
