boy oh boy
hazel eyes and that curved smile
grin so large when a joke is cracked
twinkle in his eyes
when he laughs
we used to sing Taylor Swift songs
but he fell for the cheerleader
the one with beach blonde hair
tan legs and a sorority label
i saw him twirl her around
on the dance floor
and i wish i knew
how hearts can be crushed
like the sand pushed back by the ocean.
