Should birth control pills, condoms, and sex Ed classes be provided in schools?
Should birth control pills,
condoms, and sex Ed classes be
provided in schools?
I personally believe that pills,
condoms, and sex Ed classes should
be provided in schools for the
safety of teens that are sexually
active. If they are provided in
schools then they will lessen the
risks of teen pregnancy. Teens who
will learn about the dangers of
sex would try and be more careful.
Some teens are afraid to talk to
their parents about sex. They are
afraid to ask their parents for
birth control pills or condoms. If
schools provided them, teens won’t
have to go through the process of
anticipation or nervousness of
telling their parents. Teens are
afraid that their parents will
overreact and they will get
punished that is why they keep
both their sex life and love life
to themselves.
UACHS provided sex Ed classes to
freshman in 2008. They canceled
these classes because parents
complained that their kids knew
too much about sex. According to
guttmacher.org 59% of teens have
had sex at least once at the age
of 15-19. Teens are no longer
waiting to have sex like they did
in the past. Now everyone wants to
have sex because they think its
cool, their friends are doing it,
or they don’t want to be left out.
Some people argue that teens are
still too young to learn about
sex. They argue that providing all
these things encourage teens to
have sex because they will be
safe. Teens are already having sex
so learning about sex won’t hurt
them. Providing all these things
won’t encourage sex but will just
make it safer for teens that are
having it.
I believe that providing these
things will help reduce the risks
of teen pregnancy. They will help
teens know the dangers of sex and
will make them think twice before
having sex at such a young age.
Even if they do decide they still
want to have sex then they will be
safer. Teenage pregnancy is a huge
topic in our societies and its
time that people in these
societies take this problem into
their own hands and fix it. If
they don’t, then their own kids
will be having sex and will be
coming home pregnant or with a
disease.
