Walking down a darkened road
the shadows, my thoughts
engulf life as they roam like city rats
Thickened with self-loathing
they're unable to be pierced by the light of confidence
I am bound by the rusted shackles of my mind
Tired, I sit in deathly silence as dark thoughts ooze across my once void being
Trapped by the doubts of myself and others
I realize this road is the path to my own demise, a path I alone allowed to be created
My eyes overflowing with useless tears of shame and the knowledge that I am alone, yet I'm smothered by the people around me
Choking on their endless shadows as they fill me
But I have never felt more empty
