Cleaning Up A Park MAG
During this summer I participated in community service which was different from most. One afternoon I saw a bunch of young kids playing at the playground the nearby Jenkins Park in Burnt Hills. They were having such a great time that they didn't want to leave when it was time, but eventually did.
The following morning I went back to meet my friends to have a basketball game. I noticed that something was wrong with the equipment. I realized that someone had spray-painted graffiti all over the playground. I knew that this would break those kids' hearts.
A couple of mornings later my two brothers and I went back to the park with some paint and started painting the equipment beautiful colors. We worked for two or three hours each morning and by the end of the week we had the playground looking super. The following week the children came back to play. They noticed the newly painted equipment, and at least they didn't have to witness the unfortunate damage that had been done.
I received a reward for this, though it was special kind of reward: I was able to witness the fun and enjoyment the kids had on the playground equipment. I felt very good that afternoon, for I helped the community by repainting the playground and making many kids happy. fl
