“Thorns” by “Laura” Warwick is a quirky, raw poem that touches on how love can feel. Warwick expresses that love can make you feel profound and happy for reasons nobody will understand. Then she goes on to the feeling of heartbreak and the stark difference it has on your life, such as being sad for reasons no one will understand.

The way she described it really touched with me on a personal level, because I have this type of platonic relationship with my best friend overseas. I love them beyond explanation and I usually do get asked why I'm so happy when I smile thinking about our conversations. For the second part of the poem, I've also felt that pain and I can tell Warwick has too. Lines like, “Your heart aches” and “The kind of hurt that keeps you up crying” makes it really relatable to me.
