Feedback on "Break Up, Wake Up."
“Today I woke up and washed the tears off my face.” Those are the first words of Lisa M’s poem, “Break Up, Wake Up.” It was featured in the February 2012 edition, and was exceptionally written. Lisa managed to fill her poem with such great emotion. At the beginning, it was clearly understood that the narrator was distraught and very upset. However, towards the end of the poem, the narrator’s emotions changed from sadness, to acceptance. She was no longer melancholy about the situation, but rather angry, trying to forget her past and start a new chapter.
