Big Enough
The poem “Big Enough” by Emily Anderson really stood out on the page for me. I love how the writer expresses her sadness in the beginning of the poem, but then how towards the end, even though she is still sorrowful, a little bit of happiness shines through in her life. The boy is not only her best friend but what keeps her going.
I must’ve reread this poem about ten times memorizing the beautiful lyrics written in the stanzas. For me, this poem showed a lot of depth in my mind. I especially loved her line “I stopped hearing ‘I’m proud of you,’ ‘You’re beautiful,’ a long time ago from the people whom it mattered most”. I feel that this is something I, along with many other people, can relate to. When a lot of bad is drowning you, it is hard to still hear the wonderful words from the people who are still there for you. Although, there is always going to be something in your life that can still make you even the slightest bit happy. I hope that everyone can find their happiness and I’m glad that this author has seemed to have found hers.
I really love this author and I very much enjoyed this poem. It affected me in a pleasant way.
