"Lottery" is a beautiful poem by Johanna Masterson that describes the reality of life. She compared something as insignificant as the lottery, to something as important as the very fabric of your being. She artfully describes the lottery, and references it to her life. Her word choice is impeccable as she attempts to explain the inexplicable.  Life.
"The world is a lottery ticket/But i'm the sucker who bought it". This line clearly depicts the process that a lottery addict goes through as they buy a ticket. The endless wait stifled by hope for a new future is endearing, but thats the world. She shows that life is a game of chance, and for that you need a stroke of luck.
