I find the piece "Electric Chair" by Nadia Tivvis moving, poignant, and well written. Nadia's style is captivating; she brings back the past by recreating George Stinney's story to be relatable to teens today. The first person point of view lets the reader into Stinney's eyes as he faces cruelty and discrimination. The kangaroo court that he faces sentences Stinney with a death penalty for supposedly confessing to murdering two white girls. 
     Nadia's poem is realistic to the time period and uses colloquialism common to the day. The narration is written with raw emotion and. A passage I especially like is, "Like God was telling them they'd made/ a mistake./ But they didn't listen like they didn't listen/ when I said I never killed those girls." These lines really paint a scence and let me into Stinney's thoughts during the last moments of his life. Overall, excellent job, Nadia. Keep up the good work!
