If I Could Tell My Friend
If I could tell my friend he needn’t be afraid
If I could tell my friend no one would judge
If I could tell my friend everyone should know
I would.
Love is a funny thing. It comes wrapped in many packages that, when opened, reveal an even larger assortment of presents: eating chocolate in the moonlight, walks on a cool beach, secret kisses in the moonlight.
And yet, Love is an even funnier thing in all the ways it’s denied. No, Men can’t love men. No, Women can’t love Women. It’s unnatural, sinful, and unclean they say.
If I could tell my friend he needn't be afraid.
If I could tell my friend that everyone would accept him as I do.
If I could tell my friend he’d still be loved by everyone who love him.
I would.
But I can’t.
Isn’t love a funny thing?
