Basketball
Catch the ball. Set your feet. Get low. Use your legs to propel you upward. Get your guide hand on the ball. Snap your wrist. Release the ball. Follow through. The boy played this through in his head as he ran toward the ball, just passing out of his teammates hands. He replayed the steps through his head. Then, he snapped into action, but added a few more steps. Crossover, spin, pullback, shot. He released the ball, and it was a truly beautiful shot. It had the perfect spin, great trajectory. Like a majestic bird, it soared toward the hoop and like a whirlpool, it swirled around the rim, and fell in.

When I was writing this, I tried to use some similes. I used terms like “a majestic bird”, and ”whirlpool”. I use these terms to describe how the ball soars towards the hoop.
