Things of that Nature

The burning ball of hellfire in the air became increasingly more furious at the peak of noon. The school day was coming to a halt and I knew I would have to get the internship either now or never. My emails remained alone and unresponded to. I told my internship teacher about this, and she insisted that I go to the elementary school across my high school and ask to be an intern there. So I went to the office with my friend who was also planning to intern there and already got an interview with the elementary school principle quiet early. She asked questions like why I was interested in the internship and my prior experience with jobs, teaching kids, and things of that nature. After about 30 hour of so of talking and listening my internship was secured and I was sent to assist 1 of the 3rd grade classrooms.

The 1st day of internship was the day I meet the students for the first time. I did not expect anything or set any expectations. The students were hyper and excited. The first week was mostly me getting use to the classroom and seeing how class worked and helped the teacher pass out assignments and things of that nature. For the internship, each student would have to have a main project, to do. My plan was to plan out 4 lessons to the class. Each one introducing the 3rd grade classroom to narrative writing. My 2nd week, I started reading books out loud to the class building up to my final 2 weeks where I would be giving the 4 lessons. I made a google slides for each presentation but kept it short and sweet with enough information and not too much to overwhelm the 3rd graders.

I was set to give my first presentation. This determined whether or not I could teach and pass my internship, which I have to do to pass my grade. I didn’t expect or feel anything and went into the classroom ready and even somewhat excited. It went smoothly. The presentations that followed went smoothly also. The internship was over, the last week of school was a regular week, no one expected it and we thought school was going to end with the internship, a few people were guilty of “forgetting” to come to the last day of school, including me. It was now summer, I was a teacher assistant for a month, I saw how the classroom was from the other perspective and things of that nature.
