Repeat
Brrrrr! Brrrrr! Brrrrr! My alarm goes off, again. Every morning I wake up at 5:45 and get ready for school. I shower, get dressed, and brush my teeth before going downstairs to make my breakfast—a bowl of cereal. I quickly scarf down my breakfast while checking my phone, listening to music, and scrolling on social media. My dad and sister are yelling at me, “Hurry up before we’re late!” “Clean up your cereal bowl!” “Go start your car so it has time to defrost!”
I speedily pack up my backpack, grab my keys, and get going. I pull into the parking lot, dropping off my sister, Kyra, at South Campus, then going to park my car. The parking lot is as jammed as my suitcase when I go on vacation. I wait in my car for a few minutes before sleepily dragging myself into school and through my classes.
I count down the seconds until the final bell rings. When it does, I scurry to my car where my sister is already waiting. I hurry myself out of the parking lot, and back home. I drop my sister off, pick up my textbooks, and grab a snack before heading to the library to get my homework done. I have 2 hours to get everything done before I have to get back home and gear up for soccer practice.
5:30. Time to leave for soccer. My practice jersey, still dirty from the night before, gets thrown into my soccer bag along with some socks, shin guards, and my cleats. After hustling at practice for an hour and a half, I come home to see more homework waiting for me.
After all of that, I sneak in a quick dinner before rinsing off in the shower, and cleaning up my room. I put in a load of laundry while talking with my parents and sister about our days, and I let my dog outside one last time before getting ready for bed.
As I get ready for bed, my sister and I talk and fight about who is driving to school the next morning. I wash my face and put on my pajamas before resorting to my phone again before bed. Texting my friends and scrolling through instagram are my way of winding down.
Brrrrr! Brrrrr! Brrrrr! It’s 5:45 again, and I recycle my same schedule from yesterday. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. I start everyday the same, and end everyday the same—wake up, school, study, soccer, shower, sleep. A day on repeat, the cycle of life.
