The ability to recognize, comprehend, and control one's own emotions as well as those of others is known as emotional intelligence (EI). It has an important role in a person's overall intelligence and has a strong impact on both their academic and personal performance. EI can support kids in the classroom by assisting them with social interactions, stress management, and conflict resolution. Higher academic success, greater social skills, and better relationships with teachers and classmates are all characteristics of students with high EI. Students with low EI, on the other hand, could find it difficult to manage their emotions and relationships, as well as their academic performance.

Some schools already help their kids improve their emotional intelligence in a few different ways. The use of social and emotional learning (SEL) programs is one of the most effective techniques. SEL programs are made to educate children in certain qualities and skills, such as how to recognize and control their emotions, how to successfully communicate, and how to handle problems calmly. These courses are taught using several techniques, including role-playing, group activities, and one-on-one training, and are frequently included into the curriculum of educational institutions. Studies showed that 92% of teachers agreed that the SEL program helped with the increase in students’ focus and improved the relationship with teachers and other students. The study also showed that 77-85% of teachers agreed that it improved the students’ learning, their group interactions and decrease of negative behaviors.

By creating a healthy social environment, schools may help advance development of emotional intelligence. This involves encouraging open and honest communication, promoting a sense of inclusion, and belonging, and setting an example of good social behavior. By being attentive to their students' emotional needs and offering support and direction, when necessary, teachers may significantly assist in the growth of emotional intelligence in their students.

Developing emotional intelligence in the classroom may help, not only the individual students, but the entire school community, as well. Schools that place a high priority on EI generally have a more positive and supportive atmosphere, which may boost academic performance, improve attendance rates, and reduce bullying and other negative behaviors.

Despite the obvious benefits of emotional intelligence, it is important to recognize that it cannot be taught or learnt simply. Self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, and relationship management abilities are all necessary, and they all take time and work to achieve. However, schools can play an important role in helping kids achieve success in both their academic and personal lives by giving them the resources and assistance they need to build their emotional intelligence.

In conclusion, emotional intelligence is an important part of general intelligence and is directly related to a person's performance in both school and in life. Schools may encourage the development of emotional intelligence in their students and build a more positive and supportive community by implementing SEL programs and creating a good school culture. Although it can take some time and effort to achieve, emotional intelligence has many advantages for both individual students and the school community.
