“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much,” said Helen Keller (Keller). Helen Keller was a 2-year-old when she lost her hearing and sight but she overcame it. What have you overcome? Much like Helen Keller overcame the obstacle of not being able to communicate, I too overcame my obstacle of breaking my arm.

Helen Keller had to overcome the obstacle of not being able to communicate. When Helen was a baby, she got sick and became deaf and blind. The Keller’s hired Annie Sullivan to teach Helen. Annie was able to teach Helen trust, obedience, and language to overcome her obstacle.

    My obstacle was breaking my arm. Like Helen Keller, I also had to overcome the obstacle of breaking my arm. I overcome breaking my arm by practicing sports and other activities with my cast on. I ended up getting my cast off a day earlier than I was suppose too. That is my obstacle, that I overcomed.

    Our obstacles are the same because we both had to work through it.  In the end, we both succeeded and we both learned something. Helen’s is different because mine was only for a couple of months but hers was for a longer time. Helen’s was a lot more serious than breaking an arm, hers was forever!

Much like Helen Keller overcame the obstacle of not being able to communicate, I too overcame my obstacle of breaking my arm. I learned that you can learn through everything and to never give up. We learned that you can learn lots from Helen Keller. As Helen Keller once said, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision” (Keller).
