A study comparing how Helen Keller and I overcome obstacles
Have you ever had a best friend move away? My best friend of mine, Sienna and I,  were at the East Richland Elementary School in Mrs.Mufflers class. On Friday, March 18, 2011 we were outside playing around and eating ice cream. Sienna’s Mom was talking to one of the lady's at the desk waiting for Sienna to get back inside with another one of our friends Madison and I. When Sienna, Madison, and I got back inside we were told that Sienna and her parents were moving away. Much like Helen Keller overcame the obstacle of not being able to communicate, I overcame not getting to see my best friend everyday like I used to be able to.
Even though mine obstacle was different than Helen Keller’s obstacle. She had to overcome the obstacle of not being able to communicate which caused many problems with her and her family. When Helen was a baby, she got sick.  Because of this she became blind and death. Helen’s parents  had no clue what to do so, the Keller’s decided to  hire Annie Sullivan to teach Helen. Annie was able to teach Helen trust, obedience, and language. This helped her  to overcome her obstacles. She was able to communicate with her family and with her friends. She could also communicate with Annie. Helen was able to talk to Annie about something that she wouldn’t want to talk to her parents about.
Like Helen Keller, I also had to overcome an obstacle. My obstacle was when my best friend, Sienna, moved away. The issues I had with my obstacle were that I was not able to see Sienna all the time or hang out with her at school. I overcame my obstacle by hanging out with other friends. During the summer, I would go and stay with Sienna for a couple of weeks. She would also come visit  Olney for a  couple of  weeks. While visiting so she could hang out with some of her other friends here in town.
Although our obstacles were different we share some similarities. Helen and I had to overcome not being able to communicate with others. Both mine and Helen’s obstacle were difficult to deal with for awhile, even though Helen’s was more difficult than mine, we both figured out a way to fix it. Helens would had to take longer than mine did. There were many different things that I could have done but I choose to talk to other friends and hang out with them so I wasn’t just thinking about missing Sienna. Helen could have choose other thing as well but instead she decided to listen to Annie.
Even though there is a difference between Helen and I, there is still an overcome. What I learned from Helen’s experience is that it can be really hard to be both blind and death because you can not hear or see anything around you. What I learned from my experience is that I can still be best friends with Sienna everyday, like I was when she used to live here even when she is in a different. Helen said, “ The most beautiful thing in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with heart”(Keller).
