Have you ever broken a bone? One sunny day after school my team and I had basketball practice. During the middle of practice we were doing a drill where you play two on two then you box out the defender. I was on defense and I boxed out my man and then I jumped to get the rebound, but when I jumped and got the rebound I landed on my defenders foot and fell to the ground. Much like Helen Keller overcame the obstacle of not being able to communicate, I had to overcome my obstacle which was having a broken ankle with some torn tendons in my foot.
Helen Keller had to overcome the obstacle of not being able to communicate which caused many problems. When Helen was a baby, she got sick and became blind and deaf. The Keller’s hired Annie Sullivan to teach Helen. Annie was able to teach Helen obedience , trust, and language to overcome her obstacle.
Like Helen Keller I also had to overcome an obstacle. When I tore tendencies in my foot and broke my ankle, that’s what my obstacle was. I went through rehab and worked hard to get my ankle to where it was and even making it stronger than before. After rehab and my last appointment from my doctor my ankle and foot was strong and healthy for basketball.
Although our obstacles were different, we share a few similarities like how we both built up our weakness and made it stronger. Another similarity is that it took a long time to recover but in the long run we both succeeded. Helen Keller and I have another similarity and it is to not give up. Helen and I have many  similarities between the both of us.
I was able to overcome my obstacle by letting my ankle and foot heal. . Helen had to overcome her not being able to communicate. I learned from Helen’s experiences to not give up and achieve greatness in anything. What I learned from my experiences is to keep both of my ankles and feet healthy and keep exercising both feet and ankles. Helen Keller said “Keep your face to the sun and you cannot see a shadow” (Keller).
