Is Animal Cruelty Really Needed?
Is Animal Cruelty Really Needed?
“Jake, why does your dad have to test on animals all the time?”
“I don't know, maybe he is trying to find a cure for human cancer?”
Scientists don't understand the problem with testing on animals. Animal testing means, “the use of non-human animals in research and development projects, esp. for purposes of determining the safety of substances such as foods or drugs.” Animal testing should be illegal because it deprives mothers away from children,it is animal abuse, and some people need companions to help them get places.
Aren't animal families the same as human families? Most of the pets that people have are mothers and might have babies to take care of. According to a recent article I read,
“Harry Harlow’s psychological experiments on monkeys in the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s were infamous for their cruelty. Harlow tore newborns away from their mothers, gave some infants “surrogate mothers” made of wire and wood, and kept other traumatized babies in isolation in tiny metal boxes, sometimes for up to a year.”(NIH Child Abuse: Experiments on Baby ...) I am strongly against tearing families apart, but i am also against the abusement on animals.
Animals all around the world are abused mainly everyday. According to an article, “Some animals are abused for the sake of entertainment as in sled dog tourist attractions, greyhound racing and dog fighting. Other abuse is hidden from view by animal hoarders who have more pets than they can handle and horse traders who transport horses across our borders for slaughter.”(Companion Animal Abuse | Animal Rescu...) I see some people like to watch things for entertainment or money, but watching animals fight to death is not cool. As other just need an animal as companion.
Animal companionship is strongly needed so that people can be protected from harm. According to an article, “Animals play an important role in many people’s lives. In addition to seeing-eye dogs and dogs that can be trained to detect seizures, animals can also be used in occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical rehabilitation to help patients recover. Aside from these designated therapeutic roles, animals are also valued as companions, which can certainly affect the quality of our lives.”(NCHReditor 2014) That is one of the reasons I have a dog. As other people think differently.
Some might disagree to the fact that animal cruelty is not illegal. According to an opposing document, “Equal right to life does not equate animal life to human life.”(Paulbui ) This however not true because, humans are scientifically animals, also animals go there all the stages of life like, birth. As a result animals are the same as humans in so many ways.
So I ask this question to you, does animal life matter or are animals just test subjects? In conclusion I believe that animals should not be tested on or used for entertainment like dogfights. Keep animals safe from labs, backyard chains, and fight arenas that might hurt or harm any animals. Like everyone is now saying, “All Lives Matter!”
