Women Are Underestimated in the World
How many of you have used windshield wipers in your life? Paper bags? Dishwashers? Did you know that all of those were invented by women? Today women and girls are underestimated in the world of careers and sports. Many women and girls are not playing sports they are passionate about, such as football. They are leaving STEM careers and law careers. All of this is because people are telling them that’s it's a man’s career. Some may argue that women are valued; however, women and girls are underestimated in the world.
Women are underestimated, especially in sports. A lot of women and girls are quitting the sports that they are passionate about like football, because people are telling them that it is “only for guys”. According to the article called list of “Womens and girls in football” there are only around 14 girls youth in the United States playing football because when they were being raised they were taught that it was a boys and guys sport. There is around 22 girls and women at the highschool level playing football. There is around 11 college girls and women play at the college level so the number has gone down since the highschool level. Then there is around 18 who accurately play traditional football for there career. This shows that there are not that many women and girls playing football in the United States and going to do other thing for example dance.
There has been a lot of women leaving the STEM career either. There has been a lot of women leaving the STEM career, there is about 53% of women leaving the STEM career each year. But then there is only about 31% of men leaving the STEM career because a lot of people have been saying that it is only for guys because they are smart enough. This shows since a lot of people have been saying that it is only a guy career a lot of women are not sticking with the career they are passionate about.
There is not that many women sticking with the law career either. There are a lot of women not sticking with the law career because most people think that a law career is for men only. There are only less than 31% of women sticking with. But then there are over 60% of men sticking with the career. This shows that since most women are told that it is only a men’s career and are not sticking with the law career.
According to global issues that there have been a lot of things going on with women taking a stand and standing up for their rights. But it also states that some people think that there is nothing wrong and everyone has the same responsibilities and rights. It says that womens sports and other careers are as popular as men's sports and careers that there is nothing different other then the gender.
There are a lot of different opinions on whether women and girls are underestimated in the world. Some people might think that women and girls are underestimated in the world or they might think that women and girls are not underestimated in the world.
