Edison and Tesla

Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla were both brilliant inventors, but not everyone has the same ideas about them. Many people think that they were inspirational and amazing, but some people think otherwise. I believe that Edison did not steal Tesla’s ideas. With what I have told you in mind, whose side do you choose?

There are many questions that haven’t been answered and many people have their ideas. Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla were great inventors and they accomplished and invented many things, but not everyone thinks that Edison’s inventions were his own ideas. There is one question that people have not yet confirmed, did Edison steal Tesla’s ideas?

Edison and Tesla were from two different countries that were pretty far away from each other, so it’s surprising that the two once met. Tesla started work for Edison at Edison Machine Works on June 8, 1884, as an electrical engineer. Tesla quit his job after 6 months in order to join a group of investors to create a company to sell his arc light. But, that was not the only time that Edison and Tesla were in touch. Tesla sent telegrams to Edison once in a while, such as when Tesla wished Edison a happy birthday and when Tesla sent a telegram to Edison expressing sympathy for a fire that destroyed Edison’s phonograph factory.

Edison and Tesla’s inventions are the most important things to this “argument”. Edison and Tesla were apparently rivals in what is known as the “War of the Currents”. Edison invented the direct current and Tesla invented the alternating-current. Some people argue over which current is better, but they are both important in our lives. Edison and Tesla both invented many things and both invented something that had to do with light, but they are not very similar ideas.

Many people argue over whether Edison stole Tesla’s ideas or didn’t. One person who didn’t think that Edison stole Tesla’s ideas is Leonard Degraaf. He thinks that Edison didn’t steal Tesla’s ideas because Edison would be the one that inventors would ask for help from. Edison also would tell the inventor to patent the idea if the idea had no patent so that he would not get accused of stealing another inventor’s idea. There are also people who think that Edison did steal Tesla’s ideas. But, the true answer is still a mystery because it can’t be confirmed.

Did Edison steal Tesla’s ideas? I think that Edison did not steal Tesla’s ideas because they were only called “rivals” because of the people who came up with the “War of the Currents”. But, as I said earlier, Tesla sent telegrams to Edison, and they were not negative, so I don’t see a reason why Edison would do something as bad as stealing another inventor’s ideas. I think that most people think that Edison and Tesla are rivals is because of the news. The news on the internet and on the newspaper isn’t all true. Some of it might be true, but sometimes it is altered and exaggerated so that you would think the opposite would happen, or maybe all of it is a lie. The people who share news are the ones with the information so they can do anything they want with it.

I feel like the main reason that people think Edison stole Tesla’s ideas is because they probably read some news that isn’t 100 percent true or is fake. Proof of this is when an article talked about how Edison burned down Tesla’s factory, which was fake news. Edison was not the type of inventor to do that.
