Finding a picture of my great grandma
Finding a picture of my great-grandma
I was cleaning out my locker on the last day of school when something caught my attention. It was a picture of my great-grandma. This seemed really cool to me because I had never met her. I knew my great-grandma was probably going to be really loving. I felt like my great-grandma was going to be one of those people that is nice to everyone.
The picture was really old but I was still able to get a good idea of what my great-grandma looked like. She had on a very valuable shirt that was popular during her time. I could tell that the picture was in here for a long time with the way the color of the paper looked. The paper had completely changed colors from white because it looked like an orange/yellow kind of color. That is how I knew it had been sitting in my locker for a very long time.
As soon as I got home I decided to show my parents the picture that I had found in my locker. They were very surprised to see the picture because they told me a whole story about how she passed away before I was born. “Bryce we are both confused about how that picture ended up in your locker because it has been missing for many years.”
After we all sat down on the couch my parents began telling me a lot of other stories about what my great-grandma was like. They told me she was very kind and loving. They even said how she used to throw high school parties when her parents were out of town.
Finding this picture made me recognize that even old items like pictures can have a lot of value to them. This picture made me feel connected to my family even more than I was before because I felt like I was able to talk to them more, have conversations about old things, and be able to talk about the important things in our family.
Cleaning out my locker on the last day of school made me discover a picture of my great-grandma. It was something that reminded me of the importance of my family and how old pictures can be very valuable. It was a moment that I would never forget because I felt a lot better after the stories my parents had to tell me about my great-grandma— She seemed like a very special person.
I chose this quick write because I knew I would be able to write a complete essay on it. I could not choose what stylistic devices to use without help because I am not really good with putting stylistic devices into an essay. What I like about my piece is that it helped remind me that family is very important. I would maybe add a little more information about my great-grandma if I had more time. What I learned from this piece is that there are a lot of things in the world that could be very valuable to someone and you would never know it.
