Those Shoes
Those shoes were once metallic.
They glittered like a penny does in the sunlight.
They took me farther than I ever thought I’d go.
Through puddles and long days; the longest days I’ve ever had and the hardest days imaginable.
Those shoes now sit in my closet.
They’re hidden in the back. The soles are holey, sides ripped, and leather cracked.
They don’t glitter anymore.
But they’ll always be my shoes…
