The Monster MAG
The cornstalks were taller than ever
that mild summer evening.
A great night to explore.
I didn't dare explore alone, however,
in fear
of hideous monsters.
Persuasion dragged my best friend along.
We entered the endless field.
The cornstalks welcomed us to their adventure.
Deeper and deeper
we climbed through the obstacles.
A loud rumble was heard in the distance.
I jolted to my right, hearing the rumble come
closer and closer.
We plowed through the cornstalks.
They seemed to prevent us
from moving any faster,
away from the monster.
It was even closer now.
I reluctantly glanced behind me.
My eyes focused on
ENORMOUS metal fangs and
two GIANT glowing eyes.
Breathlessly we reached home.
Safe,
away from the monster,
That evening,
the monster ate all the corn in the field,
stalks and all!
I hadn't seen the monster again.
Until the next year,
when he replaced
the corn he ate.
