Think Before You Love
A lot of people have relationships growing up, but most people remember their first serious relationship. You know, the one that usually happens around high school. Well, my first serious relationship I’ll never forget.
Now, majority of middle school and high school relationships are based on looks, and when I was 13 in 8th grade I saw what was a pretty girl to me.
It was around April or May, and I was on the Modified track team with all my buddies. And one of my friends, Davonte, was, and still is the ladies man in the group. He would always hang out with the girls from the Varsity track team. I liked one of the girls, but Davonte was already dating her.
I’m not very popular, nor, am I the best looking kid around, but I try my best to fit in. When I was around this girl I tried to act cool and wear my best clothes, and when I finally got the courage to talk to her, I asked her about Davonte. She said they were through. She gave me her number; at that time I had no idea what to do with it. I didn’t have a phone, but I did have an iPad which I had figured out you could text off of.
We texted for a week or so, and we finally decided to hang out. The two of us hang out all summer, and we did nearly everything together. It was my first serious relationship. I was so happy just to have something that I actually wanted. But after a few months things went downhill.
There was a lot of arguing over petty things. As if we were an old married couple. After a while I broke up with her because of it, but I didn’t really want to. She went off and dated someone else on the football team, and it really broke my heart. I guess you can the morale of the story is don’t love to soon.
