A Year To Remember
It was my 8th grade year. I wasn’t that nervous because we were the oldest kids on campus finally. I was ecstatic to meet all my teachers though. As I drug through the day all the teachers were nice but it was just another year in a boring classroom, until the end of the day. It was 6th period. It was time for science and I remember just wanting to skip because I dreaded it. It had always been my worse subject. I walked through the door of Mrs. Phipps 8th grade science class and from that moment on I knew it was going to be a great school year.
Mrs. Phipps was new to campus that year. Just like every other teacher she had to go over classroom rules and procedures but there was just a different way she did things. She was often so sarcastic and that was always my favorite trait of hers. She always had the class laughing but learning at the same time. Halfway through the year I forgot all the reasons why I dreaded science because it was such a fun class. We did the greatest labs unlike any other labs I’ve done in previous years but even though the class was really fun the teacher is what made it that way.
Mrs. Phipps is a great woman and teacher. She cares deeply about the education of all of her students. I still remember the day where I had a paper due next period. I forgot to type it the night before. She let me use her computer for the class period to type it. Mrs. Phipps has a big heart and to this day we keep in touch. I see her at sporting events and community activities. As soon as she says my name, before I even turn around I smile because I know her voice. I run to her and hug her like an old friend. I will never forget Mrs. Phipps and all she has taught me.
