My old green Girl Scout t-shirt feels like home. It is warm, and soft. It has holes in it, and the fabric is worn out. It is the shirt I could never wear in public, for one thing, I’m not a Girl Scout anymore, but also the shirt just looks tacky. Yet despite all this I love it.

I wear the dumb old shirt almost every night. When I need comfort I grab it. This shirt has traveled with me, has gone to summer camp, and will probably always be needed. I don’t know what I’ll do when it *really* starts to wear out. I guess I should start looking for a replacement but a new shirt would take a lot of work to wear in to the comfy point.

I think this shirt might be a good metaphor for life. Life changes and people outgrow activities and friends they once loved. Things people adored become old and obsolete. I guess I need to learn to accept change. Maybe my old shirt can teach me that.
