A Moment of Pure Joy
The thought of getting a dog has approached my family before but the idea never went beyond that thought. For the past few weeks I would come home hoping for a dog to be waiting for me in the living room of my house, but it was always just a dream that never came true. The only thing that was close to being a dog located in my house was my dad searching up dogs on his work computer in the living room.
A few more weeks past by and I began to lose the hope of getting a puppy. I soon then put the idea out of my head to stop thinking about it all the time and started to focus on something else. Once I left the thought behind me, the dream of getting a dog came closer then I ever could imagine.
March 26th was a normal day for me, as I got up, went to school, then to dance. My mom couldn’t pick me up from dance practice, so I would be getting a ride from one of my dance friends. I never thought it was a big deal because we are always carpooling and trying to make it easier for our schedules. But what if today would be the day I would get a dog?
Pulling up to my driveway I noticed that something was different and unusual then normal. My whole family was waiting for me outside, which was kinda creepy. Maybe they had a surprise for me, like a dog? I then opened the car door and happily said goodbye to my friend and her mom. I ran out to my family to see the big surprise and my smile was so big I could feel my teeth begin to clench up. I opened my hands out as my dad walked over to me and set the little puppy in my hands. The soft, small and warm touch on my palms excited me even more.
I could feel my face begin to turn into cherry red tomatoes and my eyes open so wide then I could ever imagine. We entered the house, as I sat with the puppy laying there peacefully in my giant looking hands.
My parents always said that a dog would be to much work and we would take care of it. But in the end how could you not take care of a dog that just looked like a lovable teddy bear. This moment would be a particular moment that I would never forget.
It was a moment of pure joy.
