What I See

People always tell me, "You don't have anything to be insecure about; other people wish they looked like you." But they don't see what I see.

I see a short girl with oily, frizzy hair and ears too big for her head. I see a chubby face and thick eyebrows that are always different from each other. I see two different gross color of blue eyes with dark circles under them, no matter how much sleep she gets. I see a big nose, cooked yellow teeth, and chapped lips. I see her fat legs as she puts on sweat pants to hide them. I see her small, wide feet as she stumbles through the hall. I see the scared cheeks and the bitten nails from all the nervous biting. I see her flat chest and big stomach as she puts on a sweatshirt to cover her shame. I see her vampire, pale skin as her friends make fun of her for it.

You may see a girl, but I see a monster.

I am a 14-year-old girl in an all-girls high school. I've always been insecure about my body, but when I started high school, it got worse. I hope you never feel this way about your body. You are beautiful, and you matter.
