“Hey sweetie,” I heard Jesse yell. I saw my sister with that stupid look on her face like she wants to rip someone’s head off. Then Michael and Emily walked up. “Heyyyy,” said Emily. “I love the way you say that,” Michael said giving Emily that googley eyed look. “You guys make me sick,” I said then quietly laughed. “That was kinda rude Sierra,” Jesse said. “I was only kidding,” I tried to explain to him. “It’s ok Sierra I don’t care,” Emily told me. The school bell rang and cut our conversation off. We all scrambled to get to our homeroom. Kaitlin stayed behind and began to mumble to herself. “Why does Jesse have to be so into Sierra? I bet I could change that if I wanted to,” I heard her say. I thought to myself “Yeah right that’s for sure. Jesse’s opinion would never change even if she tried.” Then Jesse came up behind me “whatcha you doin,” he said I jumped a little he surprised me “oh nothing just hanging around” I said. “Well umm we kinda need to get to class before the late bell,” he said. “Umm…,” then Kaitlin came up. “Oh hey Jesse,” She said in that flirty voice that makes me puke in my mouth every time hear it. It’s like nails against a chalkboard and then she bats her eyelashes like she has dust in them. I gave her an evil glare over my shoulder as I walked away. Jesse followed quickly afterward. “What was that all about,” Jesse asked. “It was just my lowlife sister trying to pry my boyfriend right out of my hands,” I told him with a lot of ice in my voice. “Okay. I’m gonna walk away now,” He walked away quickly. Kaitlin walked past me a big grin on her face. “What are you smirking at sis,” I asked. “Oh nothing I’m just satisfied,” she said and then walked away as if chasing after Jesse. I grabbed her arm stopping her in her tracks “You listen and you listen good you better back off of my boyfriend or else,” I said with bitterness in my tone she looks at me “listen Sierra Jesse doesn’t know better right now but he will end up with me if you like it or not,” she said. I let her go and walked away angrily. Emily walked up to me while I was walking to class “Hey Sierra I saw what happened with your sister,” she said. “Yeah whatever,” I said hoping she would leave me alone. All I wanted to do was go to the Nurse’s Office and say I have a stomach ache and then she would let me lay down until I felt better and that would be NEVER!!!!!! Ugh I wish I could just go home. Just then Kaitlin walked by. I grabbed her arm and asked, “What did you say to Jesse you little brat?” “I don’t know what in the world you are talking about sis,” she said. I looked at her with suspicion, “Yes you do. You practically ran to him after we had our little CHAT.” “Sis you must have mistaken me running off as me running to Jesse. I was running to get to class silly,” she said. Just then Jesse ran up and started talking to Kaitlin. “What was that you were saying in the hallway before class? It sounded like you were telling me that I should break up with Sierra and go out with a hot girl like you,” he said. “So you did run straight to Jesse didn’t you? Jesse, me and Kaitlin here were just having a chat about why she ran away so fast. She said it was because she wanted to get to class,” I yelled. Then I got so mad I swung my fist out and punched Kaitlin right square in the jaw. Then Emily and Michael ran up to break up the fight. “What the hell is going on here,” yelled Emily. I was surprised because I never thought of Emily as the type of person to yell or swear at her friends. “Back off Shorty,” Kaitlin yelled pushing Emily out of the way. “Who are you callin Shorty, Shorty,” Emily yelled back to her. “EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP,” Michael screamed. Kaitlin stormed off muttering to herself. I wasn’t close enough to hear what she said but I figured it was something about me or Jesse. Then I stormed off towing Jesse behind me. “What was that all about,” asked Jesse as if he didn’t already know. “That was me sticking up for us,” I tried to explain. “You know what there are no more us,” said Jesse pulling away from me. I wheeled around tears beginning to well up in my eyes. “What do you mean Jesse,” I asked as if hoping he didn’t mean what I thought he meant. “You know exactly what I mean Sierra. I mean WE’RE THROUGH,” He yelled and then calmly walked away probably going to look for my sister. I ran to the bathroom not believing a word I just heard. I ran into one of the stalls and sat in there for the rest of the day. I heard the door open and my shoulders immediately tensed. I heard Emily’s voice. “Sierra are you okay?” she asked. “What do you think Emily the love of my life just dumped me and now my sister is probably jumping on the opportunity to rub him in my face when he comes crawling to her,” I said almost bursting out in tears. “Come on out of there let’s get you cleaned up,” Emily said in her charming, and calming voice. “Why should I it’s not like I need to please anyone anymore,” I said in a depressed voice. “Come on. Will you just come out of the stall then….PLEASE,” she begged. “Fine." Ok here I am now will you just leave me alone,” I said a little bit irritated. Emily walked out of the bathroom without a word because she knew what to do when I wanted to be left alone. When I walked out of the bathroom I saw Kaitlin and Jesse waiting at the front door. Kaitlin looked depressed and that made me feel a little bit better. It made me feels so much better that I could actually smile when I was in front of her and Jesse. “Hey,” I said to Jesse, “what’s up?” “Well I thought about why you and Kaitlin were fighting and I am on your side. If I had a brother and he was trying to steal my girlfriend I would be pretty mad too,” Jesse said. “What’s your point Jesse,” I asked him. “Well my point is I’m sorry and I wanna get back together,” he said. “Wait what I thought we were gonna go out Jesse,” Kaitlin cried out. “Well I thought about it on our way here and decided that it wasn’t gonna be the best thing if I went out with you. You are younger than me you know that right,” he asked her. There was an awkward silence. “I’m sorry Kaitlin but Sierra is the one for me,” he said. Hearing that made me smile even more and I was smiling because now Kaitlin can’t have him and that I am going out with my one true love. We walked away holding hands and talking about how happy we were. Kaitlin, mumbling to herself again said, “I almost had him. I was so close to getting him to be mine.” That’s when I have had enough of my dumb little sister “KATLIN!” I yell “what do you want?” she asked in a depressed tone that only made me feel good. “You lose and I win now keep your grimy little hands off my boyfriend got it” I whisper to her then walk away. Then after we got home Jesse came over to hang out with me. “Sierra I love you” Jesse said “I love you too” I said Jesse leans in to kiss me when nobody other than my sister came into my room ruining my moment. “What’s up Sierra” she asked and turns around “oh Jesse I didn’t know you were here was I interrupting anything important” she said with a smirk on her face. I was about to say something rude to her but Jesse stopped me before I could say anything “Kaitlin you need to leave so Sierra and I can study” he said I could hear the edge in his voice. She then walked out the door of my room angrily. “Thank god she’s gone” I said “yeah I don’t know what her problem is” he says. Does he really not know? “Well she wants you to be her boyfriend instead of mine” I growl “Well I can tell you that will never happen” he smiles at me and kisses my cheek. I hear a knock at my door I open it up and see Jesse and Emily standing there “May we come in?” Emily asked “sure” I answer “do you stay together at all times?” I asked Emily pointing between both her and Michael “we are only together when we are around you guys” Michael answers. I swear Kaitlin follows me through the house “Now their here to oh my god how many people are going to be here” Kaitlin sighs. Emily rolls her eyes “well I don’t like it when you following Sierra around just to be close to Jesse but you don’t hear me complaining” Emily says I couldn’t help it I had to laugh because it was so true it was funny. “Sierra shut up and Emily do the same” she said with bitterness in her tone. I didn’t see it coming but Emily must have been mad she swung out her fist knocking Kaitlin off her feet. I grabbed Emily by the shoulder “she’s not worth your energy Emily” I whispered. Kaitlin stood up and tried to hit Emily back but missed. There is where I draw my line no one trys and hurts my friends “Kaitlin” I said calmly “what do you want” she asked I hit her hard in the stomach knocking her out. “Sierra” Jesse said “What she deserved it” I said “well she does but that doesn’t mean you can knock her out” he said but when he looked at her I saw a slight smirk come across his face “I must say though I like her better this way” he say we all break out laughing “Emily are you ok?” Michael asked “yeah I’m fine” we all head up in my room but first we have to put Kaitlin in her bed can’t have someone come home and find my little sister knocked out on the floor. So we shoved her in her room on her bed. Then all head to my room to chat. “How long till she wakes up” Michael asked “who knows let’s just enjoy the quiet while we have it” I said. “I think I hear something” I said “Do you think Kaitlin woke up?” Emily asked it had been a couple of hours since she was knocked out “I better go check on her” I sighed and as I got up Jesse followed me and we went to check on my annoying little sister and when we got in her room she was awake sadly “SIERRA WHAT IN THE WORLD” she yelled “well it was nice well the quiet lasted” Jesse whispered in my ear “tell me about it” I mumbled. Kaitlin got up and started yelling at me for knocking her out “I’M TOTALLY TELLING MOM AND DAD” she kept yelling but Jesse and I walked away with her screaming at me. I entered my room to see Emily and Michael waiting for us to come back “so she was mad?” Emily asked “completely peeved off” I said with a sort of proud tone in my voice I was glad I made her mad that’s what she deserved. “Hahaha im glad she’s mad she completely deserves to be this way for almost breaking you and Jesse up” Michael said I was surprised at this comment only because Michael was usually pretty quiet about this stuff mostly kept to himself. We all broke out laughing till Kaitlin had to bust into my room screaming once again. “I’ve had enough of you and your friends Sierra! They are all snobs and I hate you all” Kaitlin said “even me?” Jesse said mockingly Michael and Emily laughed at this “what are you laughing at you’re the snob” Kaitlin said to Emily “OK that’s it Kaitlin your done leave me and my friends alone and if u don’t there will be heck to pay you understand?!” I said in my most threatening voice and she walked right out of my room “Oh and one more thing Kaitlin” I said mockingly sweet “what?” she asked scowling “stay away from Jesse he doesn’t like you at all in fact he hates your guts” I said very happy with myself then she turned around ran to her room and I heard crying ‘Oh god what a baby’ I thought “well she will be off our hands for awhile” I said “why do you say that” Emily asked “she locked herself in her room and whenever she does that she does it for about a week or so” I answered “sweetness” I heard Emily mumble and Jesse came over to me and whispered “what is the story on why you two hate each other so much anyway” “I will tell you later” I whispered back only me Kaitlin and Emily know the whole story I never thought Jesse would care so I never thought to tell him. After Emily and Michael left I hung out with Jesse in my room just chatting about nothing and everything at the same time but randomly “so are you gonna tell me the story about you and your sister” Jesse asked “only if you’re willing to listen it’s pretty long and confusing and…” I stopped only because Jesse leaned over and kissed me stopping me in the middle of my sentence but I didn’t care “ I’m listening” he smiled at me “Ok” I smiled back “let’s start from the beginning” I started to say “where stories usually begin” Jesse added and I laughed “ Anyways it all started back when me and Kaitlin were about 12 or 13 and I had a crush on someone” again I was interrupted by Jesse “who did you like?” he asked “you and I was telling Kaitlin how much I liked you and pouring my feelings out to her like normal sisters do” I said “let me guess as soon as Kaitlin knew you liked someone she wanted to be like you and like me too” Jesse said “you got it and I got so annoyed with her because she was saying she liked you first when I was the one who liked you first so when I finally told Kaitlin about how I was gonna ask you out she got mad and we had I fight didn’t talk a few days I asked you out and she got even more mad” I said “ so all these years the anger has been just building up inside of her till she got her way” Jesse said. “yes then when we broke up Kaitlin finally got what I had and what I still loved” I looked down kinda embarrassed “but then I realized it was a stupid mistake and broke up with her and got back together with you” Jesse said “yepperz man your good at this it’s like you already know what happened” I joked “then last night everything came out me and Kaitlin had a huge fight and it was ridiculous on how she thinks this was all my fault and how you would be hers if I hadn’t stole you from her and how you are meant to be with her” I growl “Don’t worry Sierra I’m all yours and I always will be I love you and no matter what that will never change you’re my true love and nothing will change that no force in the world will ever tear us apart I will die if I can’t be with you” Jesse smiled and kissed my forehead I smiled back and then the moment was ruined by a redhead girl standing in my doorway giving e the face as if I just ripped her heart out and put it on a silver platter. I stared at her for awhile before she actually opened her big mouth “keep telling yourselves that you love each other but sooner or later you will break up and drift apart” Kaitlin said angrily “get over it Kaitlin Sierra and I will never break up” Jesse said “I suppose your gonna get married then if your never gonna break up” Kaitlin said “maybe we will” Jesse said and I had a shocked look on my face “Wait what did you just say” I said shocked and Kaitlin just looked at me in pure angry mixed with something else I couldn’t read
