A man in Vancouver was sentences 17 months for abusing several cats and a mouse and was also given two year ban for owning animals. He was caught by a woman who he sold a television and found an SD card in it. It had a recording of a man abusing cats and a mouse. The women contacted the BC SPCA, an organization that helps animals that have been abused and help them be adopted by caring/loving people. She said that the cats were thrown against the furniture, burned, and sprayed in the face with a chemical. They don't know if the animals were killed.
The women was able to identify the man and reported him to the police. She said to them that the videos were made on February, 2012. They sentenced the man 17 months in prison, These 17 months to an unrelated robbery. Later was given a 2 year ban for owning animals. The BC SPCA was very concerned about the 2 years.
Honestly I think that they should not EVER let him have pets again because he can do that pain again to other animals that don't deserve to be treated like that.
What do you think? Do you agree with me or not?
Why? There are three main reasons why some many people harm them. Some people do it unintentionally.
For example the owner may forget to put food and water for their pets. Or they might think there helping the animals by having too many pet that they can’t handle, the pets end up living in a dirty home, cramped and unhealthy place.
Others may not really know what they are doing. They might be young and do actions that are made unconsciously. They might kick their pet because they are mad with something or someone, i'm not saying that is okay to do this, its still wrong, but people should be more careful on their actions they do agents their pet. Other may think its funny to scare an animal, but it affects the animal in the inside. He/she will never feel safe around you. Or they might not see it in a humorous way, but they give in peer-presure. Lets put a case, a kid may say to another kid to do some kind of harm to an animal and if you don’t do it he/she might say that you are a wimp. So the kid may do it to prove something, to act cool in front of other kids.
But, there is still a third and final “level” of animal abuse. Some people do it intentionally. So, they what to show that they have control. They may be trying to show to other what they can do to them. Or they might just enjoy seeing other living things suffering in pain. Not even, others have psychological problems that won't go away and are in need of desperate help immediately. The people that do it because of these reasons are broken in the inside and need to express what they are feeling in the inside, which is sorrow and pain. They might thinks its totally right to do this, but its totally wrong to make other suffer what you are suffering, express it in a normal way like a stress ball.
There are many things you can do to help protect these animals. A way is that if you see or know of someone that is abusing his/her pet report is to the police or call an organization that helps these abused animals. or if you see an abandoned animal help it, call an organization. Or if you want to have a pet, such as a dog, cat, bunny, etc. you can go to a shelter near your home to adopt your pet that may have been left there by previous people. An organization that helps is the BC SPCA. If you want to adopt contact them or visit their web site to be able to learn more about them. It may take sometime for your pet to get used to you, but with love and time he/she will learn to be able to trust you.

We can help these animals to be protected from these people and give them love and give them the trust that someone is there for them, all these things that they never had from others.
