A gust of crisp winter wind strangled her body as she roamed the streets. One look all around and she knew she was lost.

Her feet continued to drag her exhausted body, shivering under the dark gray cloudy skies that warned her of an upcoming storm.

“Oh great, just what I need. A storm to add to my amazing day!” She sarcastically muttered, lifting her hood over her head to shield herself from the raindrops that had begun to pelt at her skin.

“What’re you doing out here, sweetheart?” A gruff voice asked.

She turned around to be face to face with a man in his late 40’s; a sinister look dancing within his eyes. He looked at her with lust and hunger.

As if she was a deer and he was a cheetah.

As if she was the last slab of meat in the world.

As if she was an innocent young girl that had no idea what the demons in the world were capable of.

But she knew what they were capable of.

And in that moment, as she was slowly backed into a brick wall, she knew she had come face to face with the demon himself.

Lost.

Scarred.

Never the same.

These are the emotions running along the veins of females.

Who have been used. Lost.
Who have been attacked. Scarred.
Who have seen eyes full of lust, hunger, and cruelty. Never the same.

They’re all around us. Anyone could be their next victim. Anyone could be on their list. They took anyone, no matter what. They showed no mercy; only their heartless selves.

Reann Murphy, a pure 9 year-old girl, met one of them.

And he went by the name Jerrod Metsker.
Jerrod Metsker, a 24 year-old Ohio man, has been indicted for raping and strangling a 9 year-old girl.
Hold on, can we just rewind?
A young girl, at the mere age of 9, was raped- oh, and don’t forget strangled- by the same man.
The same man who was a “family friend” as well as neighbor at a trailer park where the incident took place.
According to Captain Douglas Hunter, Metsker has a “diminished mental capacity” but exactly what the diagnosis is has yet to be known.
So here’s the sitch: two Saturdays ago, Reann Murphy and a couple other kids went out to play in the trailer park’s courtyard. The kids eventually left before finally it was just Murphy alone with Metsker.
About to feel lost after she was used.
About to be scarred after she was attacked.
About to never be the same after she glanced into the eyes dripping with lust, hunger, and cruelty.
Neighbors and law enforcement began to scour the area after Murphy was announced missing. Metsker was the first suspect on the list, since he was last seen with her. But Metsker also took part in the search party for the young girl, who was found in a trash bin the day after the incident.

Austin Clem, a north Alabama man, managed to avoid his prison sentence for multiple rapes. He was supposed to be sentenced to jail for 35 years, but Limestone County Circuit Judge James Woodroof came to his aid and suspended it. But Clem wasn’t entirely off the hook. Woodroof did give him 5 years of probation for assaulting his former neighbor several times.

Prosecutors clearly did not see the good in Clem that Woodroof saw and claimed that the judge’s sentence violates state law. After another sentencing, Woodroof kept Clem out of prison again.
On Sunday, December 22, a 13 year-old girl met three of them. The 13 year-old is a pavement dweller who was on her merry way to a night shelter when she was stopped by Md Anwar, a 32 year-old man. The victim was offered a meal and told to wait for more “Christmas goodies.” The accused men then hailed an cab and gangraped her in a moving taxi cab that drove around the Park Street-Park Circus area in Kolkata, Bengal. They took turns raping the young girl for more than four hours before ditching her on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road at 4 am. The cab-driver even took part in raping the innocent girl.

Since 2008, the numbers of rape attacks have doubled and the number of molestations have tripled in Kolkata. Bengal is rated #1 in crimes against women.

Her wide eyes, once so rich with purity, now held onto a secret that was ticking away like a timebomb. The man was long gone, leaving her with one last smirk before sauntering off into the darkness.

Lost.

Scarred.

Never the same.

These are the emotions running along her veins.

She had been used. Lost.

She had been attacked. Scarred.

She had seen eyes full of lust, hunger, and cruelty. Never the same.

She was one out of the average 237,868 victims that got raped and sexually assaulted every year.

And every 2 minutes, another American just like her is getting sexually assaulted.

But sexual assault has fallen by more than 50% in recent years. If this continues, we’ll have less and less people crying out, “Help!”
