Moneyball
What was America's pastime, is now something much more. Baseball is more than a game, it's the pop of the ball into the glove, the crack of the bat, it whizz the ball and the smell of the fresh lining. But baseball isn't the same game anymore. It is now a game simply run by money. All the equipment, uniforms, training and even membership come to a great cost. Is it still the same game?
For kids wanting to go far with baseball, some may never make it simply because they just don't have the money to support them along the way. Travel teams, showcases and recruiting agencies will give a player extra exposure. Each are very expensive and require a lot of time and commitment for the player and for the family. But the player cannot forget about their high school baseball team. If you truly are good and want to go far then you need to make your high school team and shine. Your high school team is more important and will give more exposure than any other travel team or showcase. That is where big baseball players come from and get noticed.
Although baseball has transformed into a game run my money, there is always a way to play and get noticed without needing the money. Play for a high school team or join a league. You don't need all those big money programs to be good at or play baseball. Play the game the way it's supposed be played and forget about the money. Play ball.
