Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels.
The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes -
the ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules and they have no respect for the status quo.
They push the human race forward.

Degas' Ballerina--
her classic features
and slender body
her metal legs gleaming
standing tall in all her glory
arched with grace
poised in glass
each curve and every angle
of those carefully crafted metals
making her who she is
the grimy tulle - past its prime -
still prepared for show.
she seems almost ready
to flit across the stage
with one arm extended,
one leg pointed,
one coiffed bun,
though she never will--
forever standing there, alone, unable to move
ballerina enclosed in glass--
she is Degas' ballerina.

Inspired by my trip to Europe where I saw the real Degas Ballerina and by favorite artist, Degas.
