Sleep Tight
Sleep tight, we’ll drive on out. I thought as I watched her blond hair rest in matted curls on her shoulders.
It was 3 A.M. and we were going North. Cars accompanied us on our journey but all were too shy to admit it. North was the direction to go, on the 5 we could all make it. We all had to anyway.
The darkness covered us in semi circles and road taught us the true color of black.
I could feel the streams of yellow phosphorescence beaming into my eyes and staining them different oily colors. Every car that passed whispered its own story, but at seventy-five they faded to a dirty shade of grey, and we tried to forget until the next car passed.
We never had a destination, I never liked the idea. It was easy to see that I was right where I wanted to be.
Aimless, like so many others, just her and me.
