misfortune in life is what killed the girl
she played her role as a loving new wife
to all, her hands looked as white as a pearl
no one predicted she'd end her own life
her pearl-white hands were stained red with her blood
when death granted her peace the next sunrise
after the break of the sun came a flood
and with the flood came to all a surprise;
the blood on the hands of the poor girl's skin
had yet to be cleaned away by the storm
her hands shown red, declaration of sin
upon the pearl-white of her lifeless form
her hands were red, she was selfish, they said
but always she thought that their hands were red.
