It was a normal Thursday when my English teacher brought in two bags

Inside those bags were fruits and vegetables of all shapes & sizes

Onions, horn melons, peaches, tangerines, you name it, he had it

Before I knew it, there stood one of them before me

It was a tiny, frail creature that reeked of hollow emptiness

As if it was stripped away of its uniqueness and harbored no soul

Or so I thought

The ghost of curiosity suddenly possessed my mind as I began to wonder:

Is there something more to this individual than I thought?

To quench the thirst, I tore apart the poor soul as questions raced through my head

Is it sentient? Can it feel emotion? I pondered as I tore apart its bright skin.

As I took a closer look, the odor of exotic spices filled my nostrils

Hunger shoved aside Curiosity as my stomach growled with hunger

Here we go

The sound of a split echoed as I tore the flesh of the beast apart

Upon being chewed, the monster retaliated with an explosive, fierce attack

It was as if Hell itself morphed into a sentient being and hid its fury to manipulate those who desired it

It stung my taste buds...but now they linger for more

The thrill, adrenaline, rush, and excitement…

It was incredible

Oh sweet, spicy, habanero

I constantly yearn for your calcine taste

My taste buds cheer when they sense your presence

It enkindles a flame in them

So please, won’t you be my guest and torch my sense of taste once more?
