The Perfect Gift
Just finished fabricating,
Finished being created,
So much time and effort
Into so little a work.
The creator sees perfection,
But when given to the Earth,
So many look with dismay
At what one at first praised with worth.
Blemishes and faults are recognized and misconstrued,
While others critique, evaluate,
And try to correct or redo.
Trodden on, inked,
And reassessed again.
Battered, then fixed up,
Remodeling all they can.
New appearance, new attitude, new world morals too,
But what about the one who created you?
Thought to be modified, improved, bettered,
But then left in the end
Yearning, wanting, needing the approval…
The approval of the one
Who, from the start, knew your perfection,
But then you went changing
And now require re-direction.
