Steel

For the sake of conversation
I contemplate arrest
Communicate my thoughts
And reciprocate the rest
A year gone by in theory
And a lifetime of parole
My sentence judged by convicts
Exceeding me with soul
Ninety days of waiting
Is not a price to pay
When faced with a lifetime of decisions
And recompense today
Steel is as cold as always
But isn’t so surreal
Because life’s not what you think
But really what you feel
