mindfulness
the edge of silver sounds like a sword being unsheathed in war as it gleams in the light.
the screams and yells of fighting and combat consume your head.
when will it end?
the shape of the past is a teardrop of regret and depression.
if you jump to the future you’ll land uneven, stumbling with anxiety.
when will it end?
the sound of rain hits your window and you snap back to reality.
the combat is over. my brain is free. in the present, i’m at peace.

I wrote this keeping in mind a quote that I live by, “If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” ― Lao Tzu.
