Memories
Falling ever so slowly
from sweaty hands
Scruitizined
under the glaring sun
wrong
they say
But
memories can't lie
so the blanket of grass
covers them
Hidden
under the dark confines
of soil
disintegrating
and dripping
drip
drip
drip
Until they become
part of the earth
and we scoop them up again
To create
sandcastles and mudpies
and new memories
Memories always
Memories once again

The author's comments:
This piece was written because I wanted to explain how even though we may try to hide memories we have, ones that embarass us, or hurt us, or we just don't want to face, we never can. Because they will always end up coming back to haunt us, and if we hide them, eventually something will come up that reminds us of them, and those memories will re surface. Facing what you remember, and accepting it, is what we have to do.
