Perfect
grains of sand
slipping
falling
spraying across the surfce
of the rolling waves
that rock
back and forth
crashing
against the rocks
Perfect
grains of sand
drifting
sinking
settling onto the quiet bottom
spread out
alone
without each other
silently
blending into the blanket of earth
Perfect
grains of sand
isolated
and unnoticed
all by themselves
wishing for their
sand castles
and mermaids
with shells for shirts
Perfect
grains of sand
scooped
flung
into the ocean
missing what they were part of
wishing
dreaming
of being a whole again
