Pirouette
Bare feet balanced on the blue line
Tattered skirt swirls
Ribbons spin around ankles
Delicate fingers sweep through the air
While I sketch her
She stands at attention, neat and dutiful
A perpetual frown on her face
But when I turn away
She dances
And finally allows herself to
Smile

About a drawing I did today, of a girl with ribbons around her wrist and ankles. She looked a little like a fallen angel, and I imagined her dancing when I looked away.

I was drawn to read this poem by its title- which is almost an oxymoron. And I was interested to see how the poem would work because of the title. I LOVE IT! You are so talented :)
