In Testament to Roberta Guaspari
“Music, to me is almost a spiritual way of relating to another person.” – Roberta Guaspari
Never Quit
Even though my husband left me
And I was alone
Even though I felt as if my life had ended
I made room for atone
Even though my friend referred me
I was not granted to position immediately
Even though, in the end, I was
I knew that this would be a test of wit and sanity
Even though the violin is not a ‘cool’ instrument
Its values go beyond the classroom
Even though the budget cuts jeopardize my being here
Not yet do I take off this costume
Even though we hoped and worked
To save the music program
Even though we preformed in Carnegie Hall
And fought against the system’s sham
Even though thousands of youthful lives
From this program have received benefit
Even though the world may stand against you
Never do you quit…
