Black is the color
Black is the color of puzzlement, melancholy, and forgotteness
It’s the intensity of a stare
The color that fills the night sky
It’s the streaks left on the redness of cheeks
There are black ravens and little black dresses
Dismay feels black, crazy, and denial
Pupils are the black of my dismal past
Regrets, strifes, and loves lost or denied
Black should be happiness of finally getting into that black dress
It should be peace where you moved on
It shouldn’t be the color of what’s to come
Black feels like a blanket during the night or the closing of a final chapter
Black should give us peace and serenity
But it feels like regretful sorrow
It should feel warm not cold
It should sound like life and not the end of life itself
