Work the pedals, hard and fast
Legs burning with the intensity of high weight
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in
Lungs inflate like a parachute catching current
An incline appears, stand up
Pedal harder, faster, more frantic
Sweat beating from the head, dripping to the ground like tiny raindrops
The top is near, pedal the extreme
A car appears just at the climax
A chill erupts, fear envelops
A heave and on the side of the road landing
The car drives past, the driver exasperated
Relief overwhelming, a close call indeed
Fixing back onto the road, and continuing
Sweet spring air zooming pass
Until the homestead is reached, time to relax.
