i drink of your strength
in huge fervent gulps,
too frozen by my fear
to really taste anything

indifferent air is all i
receive when I try
to inhale your scent
my nose probably
blue with the frost
blending into this
icy background on
which we try to live

i wonder why i feel
so numb to your
touch, and it hurts
to be so enveloped
in apathy, a formal
stamp pressed on
my forehead branding
me business-like
and distant words

do you feel unloved
now that i confess
to being heartless,
something i’ve
always been,
and maybe
always will be

i’m sorry – that’s all
i can say to you,
but you can
have your
life back

(it’s of
no use
to me)

go on, fly, and
melt in the arms of
another, dancing
over spring grass
bright beginnings
and solid solace

i’m already fading
though you still call
me a star, i’m so
dreadfully close
to being nothing
but a black hole
